More than 50 representatives of the civil society organizations (CSOs) in Moldova participated in a training where they learned how to use the percentage designation mechanism (2% mechanism) in the benefit of their organization. The training was organized online by the Legal Resources Centre from Moldova (LRCM) on 16 September 2020. The trainers were Sorina MACRINICI, Programme Director and Ilie CHIRTOACĂ, Legal Officer at the LRCM.
During the training, the participants were informed how to register in the List of 2% beneficiaries, about the stages of 2% mechanism, the reporting of received sums and the possible sanctions in case of breaching the law.
The trainers’ presentation in Romanian is available here.
It is worth noting that the 2% mechanism allows individuals from Moldova to designate 2% of their income tax to the nongovernmental sector that act in the public interest or to the religious entities.
It should be pointed out that between 1-30 September of each year, the CSOs can register in the List of 2% Beneficiaries by submitting an application to the Public Services Agency.
More details about the registration procedure one can find here (information in Romanian and Russian).
The training was organized in the framework of the project ” Promoting rule of law in Moldova through civil society oversight” implemented by the LRCM with the financial support of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
