The Internet and new technologies have become ubiquitous, playing a vital role in our daily lives. Despite being relevant globally, conversations about the challenges and opportunities of topics like –  ‘Artificial Intelligence’ ‘Algorithms’, ‘Digital Society’  just to name a few, are mostly happening only in certain parts of the more advanced world. For countries in transition like Republic of Moldova, these topics still await further exploration.

In order to cultivate interest for these new emerging topics and research their potential impact on human rights, the Legal Resources Centre from Moldova (LRCM) with the generous support of International Center for Not-for-profit Law (ICNL), launches the Digital Rights Literacy Program. The overall objective of the program is to research and explore topics related to emerging technologies, and help Moldovan CSO community and the general public to eventually becoming a part to these conversations.  

The program envisages capacity building activities for LRCM and partner CSOs, the creation of a digital database resource section on the LRCM page, non-academic research and brief articles on themes related to Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, 5G technologies and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and last but not least, the launch of the first digital rights podcast in Moldova.

The Digital Rights Literacy Program was launched on 1 October 2020 and will last for six months.
