The 2% mechanism is clearer for a new group of civil society organizations

On 18 September 2019, the Legal Resources Centre from Moldova (LRCM) organized a workshop on the application of the percentage designation mechanism (2% Law). The workshop aimed to empower civil society organizations (CSOs) to capitalize the benefits of the 2% Law: accumulation of the additional funds for the organization, communication with the community, enhancement of the philanthropy and stimulation of the civic activism.

15 representatives of CSOs from Chisinau and other regions of Moldova learned how to register in the List of 2% beneficiaries, about the stages, deadlines and institutions involved in the percentage designation mechanism, as well as how to use and report the use of the amounts received within the mechanism. The training session also addressed the responsibility and sanctions applied by the responsible bodies, if the CSOs do not comply with the law, but also the access of CSOs and taxpayers to information.

The 2% mechanism is the process in which the taxpayers direct 2% of the amount of income tax for the previous year, to non-governmental organizations acting in the public interest and to religious entities.

The presentation from the workshop are available here.

We remind that during 1-30 September 2019, CSOs can register in the List of 2% beneficiaries, by submitting an application in this regard to the Public Services Agency.
More details about the registration procedure can be found here.

The workshop was organized within the project "Promoting rule of law in Moldova through civil society oversight", implemented by the Legal Resources Centre from Moldova with the financial support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
