It monitored the implementation of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) cases in Moldova, provided training of judges, prosecutors and lawyers on European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) standards and advocated for setting up a new mechanism of supervision of execution of ECtHR judgements.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Promotion of systemic changes via strategic litigation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The European Convention of Human Rights (ECHR) is directly applicable in the Moldovan legal system. In this context, the LRCM has taken several cases to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), aimed\u00a0 at\u00a0 promoting\u00a0 systemic\u00a0 changes\u00a0 in\u00a0 the \u00a0national\u00a0 legal\u00a0 system.\u00a0 One case has already been won, M\u0103t\u0103saru v. Moldova (<a href=\"https:\/\/globalfreedomofexpression.columbia.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/MATASARU-v.-THE-REPUBLIC-OF-MOLDOVA-69714_16-Judgment-_-Article-10-Freedom-of-expression-general-_-Second-Section-2019-ECHR-35-15-January-2019.pdf\">no. 69714\/16<\/a>), setting a strong precedent to allow the genuine exercise of the right to protest and freedom of expression in the Republic of Moldova. Another four cases are pending, focused on issues regarding the freedom of association, independence of judges, security and privacy and family life. Seven briefs relating to <a href=\"https:\/\/old2.old.crjm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/2018-02-19-submission-2-LRCM-Ciorap.pdf\">detention conditions<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/old2.old.crjm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/2020-07-24-LRCM-PromoLEX-submission-Ozdil-and-others_CM-fin.pdf\">forcible transfer and deprivation of liberty<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/old2.old.crjm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/2019-04-16-LRCM-submission-9.2-Sarban.pdf\">pre-trial arrest<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/old2.old.crjm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/2018-10-22-LRCM-submission-9.2-Corsacov.pdf\">ill-treatment<\/a> were sent to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coe.int\/en\/web\/cm\/home?desktop=true\">Committee of Ministers<\/a> to advocate\u00a0 for\u00a0 an\u00a0 effective\u00a0 execution\u00a0 ECtHR\u00a0 judgments\u00a0 implementation\u00a0 of\u00a0 ECtHR standards in Moldova.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Awareness raising on ECHR<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The LRCM, in collaboration with lawyers from the ECtHR Registry, has organized a series of trainings for more than 100 lawyers, judges and prosecutors. They benefited from a solid learning experience on the practical application of the ECHR to help them better serve their clients. Statistical data concerning Moldova and <a href=\"https:\/\/old2.old.crjm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Nota-analitica-CEDO-2020-EN.pdf\">summarisation of judgements and decisions issued by the ECtHR<\/a> in Moldovan cases was also developed on early basis.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Advocacy for effective national remedies on equality and non-discrimination<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The\u00a0 project\u00a0 advocated\u00a0 for\u00a0 improvements\u00a0 to\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/promolex.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/2019-10-21_Op-Promo-LEX-CRJM-proiect-lege-277-301.pdf\">the legislative\u00a0 framework\u00a0 on\u00a0 combating\u00a0 hate\u00a0 speech and\u00a0 hate\u00a0 crimes<\/a>,\u00a0 and\u00a0 for <a href=\"https:\/\/old2.old.crjm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/2017-12-07-PL-Egalitate_Opinie-CRJM_fin.pdf\">improvements to the national mechanism on equality and non-discrimination<\/a>. The legislative amendments are pending. The project provided an <a href=\"https:\/\/old2.old.crjm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/CRJM-Analiza-CPPEDAE-En-2020-10.pdf\">in-depth analysis<\/a> of the jurisprudence of courts in\u00a0 cases\u00a0 of\u00a0 discrimination,\u00a0 compliance\u00a0 with\u00a0 non-discrimination legislation and the functioning of the Equality Council, with the aim of strengthening the legal framework and practice of equality and non-discrimination in Moldova.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The afore-mentioned activities were undertaken by the LRCM, because the effective observance of human rights in the Republic of Moldova is one of the values \u200b\u200band objectives of the organization, which are also promoted in the project &#8220;Promoting the rule of law through monitoring by civil society&#8221;, financially supported by the US Agency for International Development (USAID), implemented between October 2016 and November 2020.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The main results obtained by the LRCM within the project can be seen in the <a href=\"https:\/\/old2.old.crjm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/USAID-project-factcheet-EN.pdf\">project factsheet<\/a>.
